Give Your Puppy the Best Start

Welcoming a new puppy into your life is an exciting adventure – and we’re here to help you make the most of it! At Four Paws Dog Training, our eight-week structured puppy programme is designed to lay the foundation for a happy, well-behaved, and confident dog.

Why Join Our Puppy Classes?

  • Socialisation in a Safe Environment
Puppies need positive interactions with other dogs and people during their critical early months. Our classes provide a controlled, friendly space where your puppy can safely socialise and build confidence.
  • Essential Life Skills
Our programme teaches the fundamentals, including recall, sit, stay, walking nicely on a lead, and how to settle calmly. These essential skills set your puppy up for success in everyday life.
  • Building the Puppy-Owner Bond
Training isn’t just about your puppy – it’s about you too! Our classes are designed to strengthen the bond between you and your pup, helping you understand their behaviour and build a lasting relationship based on trust and positive reinforcement.
  • Preventing Problem Behaviours
We focus on preventing common challenges like jumping up, chewing, and barking before they become habits, ensuring your puppy develops into a well-mannered adult dog.

What to Expect

  • A friendly and supportive group setting with expert trainers.
  • Weekly sessions that combine learning, fun, and plenty of encouragement.
  • Guidance tailored to your puppy’s age, breed, and individual needs.

Continue Your Journey

Once you’ve completed our puppy programme, you’ll have the opportunity to seamlessly transition into our adult classes, allowing you to build on your puppy’s progress and continue their development.

What We Cover

Our puppy course is carefully designed to cover all the essentials for raising a happy, well-behaved, and confident dog. Each skill we teach has a purpose – helping you and your puppy navigate everyday life with ease.

Socialisation with Dogs

Puppies learn how to interact with other dogs in a safe and controlled environment, helping them understand canine body language and establish healthy boundaries. This reduces the risk of fear or aggression later in life and helps your pup feel comfortable around other dogs. We want your puppy to feel safe and relaxed in our classes so we make sure that each dog has their own space without any interference from other puppies.

Socialisation with People

We encourage positive interactions with people of all ages, including children and adults. This helps your puppy build trust and learn to greet people politely, whether at home or out and about.

Basic Obedience

Our classes cover key commands such as:

  • Sit and Down: Essential for focus and impulse control.
  • Recall: Teaching your puppy to come back reliably, even with distractions.
  • Walking on a Lead: Building good habits for stress-free walks.

These foundational skills are taught using positive reinforcement, making learning enjoyable for your puppy.

Good Manners

We address common challenges like:

  • Nipping: Teaching bite inhibition and appropriate play
  • Jumping Up: Encouraging calm greetings instead of overexcitement.
  • Polite Behaviour: Preventing problem behaviours before they start, ensuring your puppy grows into a well-mannered companion.

Play and Fun

Structured play sessions allow your puppy to burn off energy while learning polite interaction. Play is a vital way for puppies to learn boundaries, practise bite inhibition, and build their confidence – all while having a great time!

Calm Between Exercises

It’s not all go-go-go! We teach your puppy to settle and relax during breaks, an essential skill for visits to cafes, family gatherings, or any situation requiring calm behaviour.

Each aspect of our programme is designed to set your puppy up for success, helping you raise a well-rounded, confident dog that’s a joy to be around. Whether you’re at home, in the park, or exploring the world together, these skills will make life with your puppy easier and more rewarding.

Class Schedule

Classes are typically held on Sunday mornings, offering structured lessons to fit conveniently into your weekend. Each session provides focused guidance and practise opportunities for you and your dog to make steady progress together.
