Photo Gallery: Dog Walk. July 2019

image

We held a club dog walk, open to all the club's handlers and their dogs. The walk was followed by a barbecue at the club site.

Have a look at the gathering before the walk, the walk itself, and the barbecue.

Getting ready for the walk

image
Getting ready before club walkers
arrive – we must be organised
image
Walkers are arriving, checking they
have leads, titbits, and poop bags!
image
Dogs off-lead in the compounds
get nosily acquainted ...
image
... in colour
coordinated style ...
image
... there's the occasional
very polite and coy soul ...
image
... and family friends (even if sharing
ball is a step too much!)
image
Bored of waiting, these two start a
vigorous game, taking it in turns ....
image
... to tackle each other, one
and then the other ...
image
... until one signals
that's enough!
image
There is a competition to see who
can look the most soulful ...
image
... and one or two practicing
their dance moves ...
image
... while some wait outside of the
compounds,waiting oh so patiently
image
Humans find that squeezing in without
toppling over is tricky!
imagefreet each other
There is even some training going on
– spot the “Touch” command
image
More dogs arrive, carefully checking –
in canine fashion – who have already arrived ...
image
... though this one might
prefer to greet the cone
image
There's the club Chair, wondering
how to organise the rabble ...
image
... and finally he has got attention,
so off we go on our walk

Our club walk

image
Walking up the entrance
road to the club site ...
image
... and here we have Mr Inquisitive ...
Take note! We will see more of him later!
image
We have dogs asking
to have their picture taken ...
image
... families with
their dog ...
image
... class
mates ...
image
.... very nice loose
leads ...
image
... and there always someone
heading the wrong way!
image
Hey, that's Mr Inquisitive,
checking to his left ...
image
... checking to his right – he
really wouldn't want to miss anything!
image
That's us going down the road but we
do hope those stragglers won't get lost!
image
Down a grass track to a dirt road
where we meet a car ...
image
and we ask for
a Sit-Stay ...
image
... from all, even Mr Inquisitive
– Very well done!
image
Now into the fields
(another lovely loose lead)
image
Notice that being inquisitive doesn't
mean pulling. That's brilliant!
image
The grass is even
taller than the dogs
image
At the nature park there is confusion. Which way?
Her dogs have different opinions
image
Hopefully the Chair will
clarify ...
image
... it is down the
boardwalk ...
image
... and coming round the corner
is our camera-loving dog
image
Next it is off-lead along the
grassy ridge ...
image
... where, understandably, Mr Inquisitive
investigates this strange companion!
image
But why have these dogs
come to a halt?
image
Oh, they spotted a stationary queue
ahead, where we go through a gate ...
image
... one by one, but not always with dignity,
due to some canine enthusiasm!
image
Stopping to discuss the route back, it's time
for family affection during the boring human talk!
image
One group heads off on the
short but adventurous route ...
image
... where the flowers nearly
hide even the larger dogs
image
... and where crossing the ditch means
squeezing through a hedge ...
image
... but success
is gratifying!
image
... and just a short trek up
the road back to the club
image
Let's follow the other group, on
the longer but smoother route back ...
image
... fit for dreaming beside the tall flowers
(but will everyone go in the same direction?)
image
.Heading up the road to the club,
last, but not least ...
image
... and finally back down our
entrance road ...
image
Mmm. He started with one dog,
and now he has two!
image
Not forgetting to check
the environment, of course!
image
Nearly all are
back now ...
image
... heading off
towards lunch ...

Club barbecue

image
The sausages and rolls
are nearly ready ...
image
... and there is a choice of
cake for afterwards
image
Just time for a drink
and a chat first ...
image
... and settling down
to relax ...
image
... before getting your
lunch
image
It looks
very tasty ...
image
... a dog has just gotta look
hasn't he?
image
Contentment is
relaxing after a walk ...
image
... good company,
good food ...
image
... and, of course, looking
cute for the camera!
image
We hope you are all
proud of your great dogs!
image
And that they dream
of fields and sausages

With our thanks to Liz and Judi for taking photos of the day.
